Gypsy oracle
Also Gypsy fortune-telling cards · Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten
The term Gypsy oracle refers to several divination decks, mostly German, of 36 cards showing scenes from life and characters, sold as “Gypsy” fortune-telling cards. These decks, close to the Kipper cards in their realism, have no proven historical link with the Romani people: the label stems from a nineteenth-century romantic imagination that associated “Bohemians” with fortune-telling. They are read through the literal meaning of each card and through their combinations.
