Guidebook

The guidebook is the small book sold with an oracle or tarot deck, which gives the meaning of each card and suggests spreads. For a modern oracle, it is often the only reference setting the meaning intended by the author, since such decks rest on no shared tradition. For older decks such as the Belline or the Lenormand, on the other hand, many competing books exist. Many practitioners rely on it at first, then develop a more personal reading with experience.
