Opposition

An opposition is the aspect formed by two planets or points 180 degrees apart, placed on either side of the chart. Astrologers describe it as a polarity: two tendencies face each other, pull at each other, and call for balance or an awareness of the other. It is counted among the aspects of tension, but also of awareness.
