Astrological aspects

An aspect is a significant angle formed between two planets or points in the chart, measured in degrees along the zodiac. The major aspects, inherited from Ptolemy, are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition; the quincunx and other so-called minor aspects are often added. According to tradition, they describe how the energies of the planets combine, smoothly or with tension, each aspect being allowed within a certain margin called the orb.
