Justice

Justice is Major Arcanum VIII in the Tarot de Marseille and XI in the Rider-Waite-Smith, which swaps it with Strength; the Thoth deck calls it Adjustment. A seated woman holds a pair of scales and a sword. Upright, it expresses balance, fairness, rigor, responsibility and the just consequences of an action. Reversed, it is read as imbalance, bias, excessive severity or drawn-out administrative procedures. The difference in numbering is a frequent source of confusion.
