Strength

Strength is Major Arcanum XI in the Tarot de Marseille and VIII in the Rider-Waite-Smith; the Thoth deck calls it Lust. A woman wearing a hat shaped like a lemniscate effortlessly opens or closes a lion's jaws. Upright, it symbolizes quiet courage, self-control, the gentleness that tames the instincts, and vitality. Reversed, the tradition reads in it weakness, impulsiveness, suppressed anger or fear of one's own impulses.
