Kabbalah and tarot
Also Kabbalistic tarot · Qabalah and tarot · Hebrew correspondences
Kabbalah and tarot refers to the system of correspondences that matches the twenty-two Major Arcana with the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet and the paths of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. Sketched as early as 1781 by the Comte de Mellet, systematized by Éliphas Lévi in the mid-nineteenth century and later modified by the Golden Dawn, it has no connection with the historical origin of the deck but structures the entire occult tradition. Attributions vary between schools, particularly regarding the place of the Fool.
