False urgency

Also pressure tactics · limited-time offer · act now

False urgency is a sales technique that consists of making someone believe a decision or a payment must happen immediately: an astral window about to close, an imminent danger, an offer that expires tonight. In psychic readings, it keeps people from thinking things over, talking to those close to them or comparing. No honest session depends on an immediate payment. Time pressure is one of the surest signs of commercial manipulation.
