A card combination is the pairing of two or more cards whose joint meaning goes beyond the sum of their individual meanings. In cartomancy, and even more so with the Lenormand oracle, some combinations carry codified meanings; in tarot, readers look rather at how the cards reinforce, qualify or contradict one another. Knowing how to read combinations is what separates a living interpretation from a mere string of definitions.
