Upright
Also upright card · upright position
An upright card is one that appears the right way up for the reader in a reading, with the figure’s head at the top. It is then given its main meaning, generally the most fluid expression of its symbolism. The distinction only matters to tarot readers who take card orientation into account; others read every card upright and look for nuances in the neighboring cards.
