Reversed
Also reversal · reversed card · inverted
A reversed card is one that appears upside down in a reading. Since Etteilla in the eighteenth century, part of the tradition has given it a meaning of its own: a weakening, blockage, excess, delay or internalization of the upright meaning. Approaches vary widely; many tarot readers, particularly those using the Tarot de Marseille, ignore reversals. A reversed card is not, in itself, a bad omen.
