Sun sign

The sun sign is the zodiac sign the Sun occupied at the moment of birth; it is the one people mean when they say “I'm a Leo” or “I'm a Pisces.” It can be worked out from the date of birth, the time mattering only on days when the Sun changes sign, which explains its place in newspaper horoscopes. In astrology, it speaks to core identity and vitality, but it does not sum up a person: the rising sign, the Moon and the planetary positions complete the portrait.
