Johann Kaspar Hechtel
Also Hechtel
Johann Kaspar Hechtel (1771-1799) was a Nuremberg merchant and game designer, creator of the Game of Hope from which the Petit Lenormand derives. He devised several parlor and entertainment games at the end of the 18th century. His role, long forgotten in favor of the Mlle Lenormand legend, has been brought back to light by historians of playing cards. Nothing suggests he ever knew the Parisian cartomancer, whose name was only attached to his cards after her death.
