Initiation

Initiation is a rite or a journey through which a person is admitted into a group, a tradition or a body of restricted knowledge, often presented as a symbolic death followed by rebirth. It is found in the mystery religions of antiquity, traditional societies, Freemasonry, Reiki and certain esoteric schools. A serious initiation is passed on without pressure; an endless series of paid levels should give pause.
