Channeling
Also channelling · trance channeling · channel
Channeling is a practice in which a person, called a channel, claims to transmit messages from an outside source: a spirit guide, an entity, a being of light, a collective consciousness. The term spread from the 1970s onward in New Age circles, extending in its own way the Spiritualist mediumship of the nineteenth century. The messages are delivered through speech, often in an altered state of consciousness, or through writing. It is wise to stay alert to groups in which a single channel becomes an unquestioned authority.
