Nine-card square

Also box of nine · 3x3 spread

The nine-card square is a Petit Lenormand spread that lays out nine cards in three rows of three, forming a small tableau halfway between the line of three and the Grand Tableau. The center card sums up the situation; the rows, columns, diagonals and corners are then read as so many complementary sentences. According to practitioners, the top row shows what weighs on the situation and the bottom row what is secured or under control, but these conventions vary from one author to another.
