Oudlers

In the trick-taking game of French tarot, the oudlers (bouts) are the three key cards that determine how many points a player must reach: the Petit (trump 1), the 21 and the Excuse. In divinatory tarot, they correspond to the Magician, the World and the Fool. Some tarot readers note this parallel, which places beginning, fulfillment and freedom at the edges of the deck, but the notion belongs first to the game.
