Audiotel

In France, Audiotel is the everyday name for paid telephone services reached through special numbers, whose cost is added directly to the phone bill. The name comes from a former France Télécom brand that became generic. In clairvoyance, Audiotel makes it possible to consult without a credit card, which also makes it fertile ground for abuse: billed waiting time, conversations that drag on, bills discovered after the fact. Announcing the rate at the start of the call is mandatory, and the total cost is checked by multiplying the price by the actual duration.
