Mantegna Tarocchi

The Mantegna Tarocchi are an Italian series of fifty engravings from the fifteenth century, around 1465, depicting the conditions of humanity, the Muses, the arts, the virtues and the celestial spheres. Despite their name, they are not a tarot in the strict sense and are not by the painter Andrea Mantegna. Several esoteric authors have nonetheless linked them to the arcana, and some of their images are sometimes compared with figures such as The Star and Temperance.
