Rhabdomancy

Rhabdomancy is divination using a rod or sticks, from the Greek rhabdos, “rod”. The word first referred to ancient practices in which rods were thrown or allowed to fall so their arrangement could be read, and then, by extension, to the use of the divining rod to detect water or metals. It is now considered one of the historical branches of radiesthesia. Like radiesthesia, it belongs to tradition rather than to any recognized method of prospecting.
