Premonitory dream
Also prophetic dream · precognitive dream
A premonitory dream is a dream whose content seems to foretell an event that later takes place. Religious and literary traditions are full of them, from Joseph’s dreams in Genesis to those of the kings of antiquity. Oneiromancy is devoted to interpreting them. Researchers point out that people dream a great deal, forget most of their dreams and mainly remember those that coincide with reality. Practitioners recommend writing dreams down on waking, which also makes it possible to check coincidences honestly.
