Vernal point

The vernal point is the point in the sky where the Sun stands at the Northern Hemisphere's spring equinox, when it crosses the celestial equator heading north, around March 20 or 21. It is the starting point of the tropical zodiac and marks 0 degrees Aries. It slowly drifts backward among the stars because of the precession of the equinoxes.
