Pythagorean numerology

Also Western numerology · modern numerology

Pythagorean numerology is the most widespread form of numerology in the West, based on a table that assigns the letters of the Latin alphabet the values 1 to 9 in alphabetical order. It reduces the resulting numbers to a single digit, except for master numbers, and relies on the full birth name and the date of birth. It owes its name to a claimed lineage from Pythagoras; its actual codification dates mainly from English-language authors of the early 20th century.
