Vedic astrology

Vedic astrology, or Jyotish, is the astrological tradition of India, rooted in Sanskrit texts. It uses the sidereal zodiac, gives great importance to the Moon and to the twenty-seven lunar mansions called nakshatras, and employs systems of planetary periods, the dashas. It remains very present in Indian social life, notably for choosing dates and arranging marriages.
