Chiropractic...

Machine translation.

Hello everyone,
I just got into chiropractic. I think you’ve already heard of this alternative medicine.
Especially since people think they have to lie on a table and wait for it to crack?
So it’s awesome… but I assure you, it’s very quick.

I have been a few times for my spine and neck to put vertebrae back in place or to... unlock my neck.

For the theoretical part:

Chiropractic (not to be confused with chiromancy :stuck_out_tongue: ... seeks to diagnose and treat problems of the spine, joints, and muscles through manipulation, and to maintain the health of the central nervous system and organs. Practitioners believe that the body can heal itself (again! – of course – all you have to do is believe in it) when the body’s systems are in harmony. Due to its success in treating back pain, headaches, and sports injuries, chiropractic is the most widely practiced form of alternative medicine in the West. It has approximately 62,000 practitioners worldwide (if not more).

Some techniques resemble those of osteopathy.

Our bodily functions and the autonomic nervous system are interconnected within us. And each “vertebra” corresponds more or less to an organ.

Have you ever been to a chiropractor?

Best regards, ClaudiaC

Great, thank you Claudiac, I had been looking for the name of this type of practitioner for days and days. So I have consulted one on two occasions. At least for one case, I am sure.

First: after my delivery, I had terrible back pain; my spine was causing me suffering. Besides a disc hernia caused by the delivery, I had a dreadful sore spot at the site of the epidural. I was on vacation near Royan, and our landlady, seeing my suffering, gave me the address of a man who, she said, works miracles. An appointment was made, and in one session he independently identified the vertebra causing my pain, and in no time at all, with a crack, I left his office feeling better, no longer in pain, able to take deep breaths—something I couldn’t do before—and, most importantly, to hold my baby in my arms without suffering.
What a joy!!!

For the second experience, I think it was also a chiropractor, though I’m not entirely sure, as I seem to recall that this man was a kinesiologist by training. I had broken my right wrist, with a fractured scaphoid. I was in a cast from my fingertips to my elbow (my right hand, so you can imagine, as I’m right-handed). A few days later, I experienced excruciating pain from my fingertips to the back of my neck, along with burning sensations, and I felt my arm going numb, stiff, and cold. I went to Auvergne for the New Year holidays, and my friends at whose place I was staying found it abnormal that my arm was in such a state (before leaving, I had insisted on having the cast opened, and I was right to do so). They took me to a man who told me that what he was going to do to relieve me would hurt a lot, but that there would be relief afterward. He told me that if I hadn’t come to see him, I would have lost the use of my arm. He manipulated my hand, wrist, and elbow, and of course, there was a loud crack. After an hour, I could feel the blood flowing through my arm again, and the color returned to normal. And again, Claudia, what a relief. So, for this second experience, could you clarify whether it was indeed chiropractic? If you think this second example doesn’t really relate to the topic, you can remove this paragraph, so that I stay on subject.

See you soon

I'm glad I can help you.

So Josy, that's an interesting point you're raising, and you're not off the subject at all.

I once saw a TV movie about a physiotherapist. I think that in France, you say “physiotherapist” (for back problems and athletes), whereas in Switzerland, we say “chiropractor.”

I do think it is the same profession.

And would you like to go back to a chiropractor—a chiro?

See you soon, ClaudiaC

Hello Cmaudiac,

Indeed, I would need to benefit from this type of treatment again.

My back and spine are the source of a great many ailments. For about fifteen years, I have been suffering from a herniated disc caused by my difficult delivery, not to mention cervical issues compounded by osteoarthritis. I’ll stop listing the pathologies, as the list is getting quite long.

I am seriously considering turning to this type of practitioner, as traditional medicine, apart from relieving pain or attempting operations that often cause more harm than relief, does not really appeal to me.

I'm sorry for the typo "Cmaudiac" instead of "Claudiac"; I wasn't able to correct it because I don't have the option to do so. In fact, once a post is submitted, there is no "edit" button available to make changes.

Hello Josy,
I’m going to tell you about a text that was sent, which you apparently don’t know how to modify.
If you notice it, go back to your text, make the changes and corrections, then save it, and your text will be restored as you wanted it. I have already done this several times.
It has nothing to do with it, but I don't know if I was able to help you.
Best regards
Ladysally
Sorry, Claudiac, off topic :-[ >:

Please come to my rescue, Ladysally

But there was no edit button. :frowning:

So how do you do it::slight_smile:

In other sections I was able to do it, but in this one

Hello Josy,

Of course, you can go back to a chiropractor for your back and explain the situation to them.

As for posts, to edit one, you go back to your post, look at the top right, and there's an edit button. You can edit a message at any time.

See you soon, ClaudiaC

Hello Claudiac,

Thank you for everything, but there is a big "but": I have no button in this section that allows me to edit a message. I only have "Quote," nothing more. Perhaps we should ask Tom if he can look into this technical issue for us.

See you soon
