my grandmother

I went with my parents as guests to some people’s house. There, I said hello to everyone, and in our family, it is customary to kiss the hands of older people as a sign of respect. And then I saw my grandmother, who passed away in 2003, and I did not want to kiss her because I knew she could not see. I wanted to take advantage of her disability to avoid kissing her (she did not see very well and had always told us that she could not see so that we would feel pity for her), so I wanted to avoid her, telling myself that anyway she could not see. Then she said to me, “Come and kiss my feet,” and I was disgusted when I saw her two feet, all rotten :o. “Since you do not kiss my hands, then kiss my feet,” she said to me :o ???. Ah, now I understand why my father always comes here. Because my grandmother is here. My mother and I were shocked by my grandmother’s attitude, but my father was very happy to be there among his own.
