Furthermore, I just came across a job posting: it is a permanent contract that is set to start at the end of August. I am going to apply; it is an opportunity for me to move into a management position and leave my current employer. Will my application interest the employer? Will I get an interview? 2/7/18

If you have the option to extend your summer job by a week, why not take advantage of it!
Again, if you plan to leave your current employer, it could work out for you through a permanent contract elsewhere, but I still advise you to cover your bases! “Don’t abandon the prey for the shadow.”
