The joy of prayer …
Come, you who wish to believe
O disbelieving men! If you only knew how much faith benefits the heart and leads the soul to repentance and prayer!
Ah! How touching are the words that come from the mouth at the hour of prayer!
Prayer is the divine dew that destroys the excessive heat of the passions, the eldest daughter of faith; it leads us along the path that leads to God.
In stillness and solitude, you are with God; for you, no more mystery: He reveals Himself to you. Apostles of thought, your soul detaches from matter and rolls through those infinite, ethereal worlds that poor humans fail to know.
Walk, walk along the paths of prayer, and you will hear the voices of the angels. What harmony! It is not the confused noise and shrill tones of the Earth: these are the lyres of the archangels, these are the soft and sweet voices of the seraphim, lighter than the morning breeze as it plays among the foliage of your great woods
What delights you will not walk in! Your tongues will be unable to define this happiness, so much will it enter through every pore, so lively and refreshing is the source from which one drinks!
Gentle voices, intoxicating perfumes that the soul hears and savors as it ventures into these unknown spheres inhabited by prayer!
Free from the mixture of carnal desires, all aspirations are divine.
And you too, pray as Christ did, bearing his cross from Golgotha to Calvary; bear your cross, and you will feel the sweet emotions that stirred in his soul, though he was burdened with a shameful wood.
He was going to die, but to live the heavenly life in the dwelling place of his Father
