Words of peace

Machine translation.

External disarmament goes through internal disarmament. The only true guarantor of peace is within oneself.
Dalai Lama

Biography of the Dalai Lama

Political and spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the Dalai Lama is, according to the Buddhist religion, the incarnation of the Bodhisattva. Tenzin Gyatso, whose real name is Lhamo Dondup, is currently the fourteenth Dalai Lama. He was declared Dalai Lama at the age of 3 and witnessed the invasion of his country by the Chinese “liberation” army in December 1950. The failure of the Lhasa uprising in 1959 forced the Dalai Lama and 80,000 Tibetans into exile in India. Since then, Tenzin Gyatso has ceaselessly advocated for the liberation of his country in a peaceful manner, multiplying conferences and meetings. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his actions. The Dalai Lama is now a refugee in Dharamsala, headquarters of the Tibetan government in the Indian Himalayas, from where he awaits the departure of the Chinese authorities. In 2008, he was at the center of international news through the unprecedented violence inflicted on Tibetan monks rebelling against the Chinese army and the blockade of their country.

Origin
“Dalaï” is a Mongolian word meaning ocean, and “Lama” is a Tibetan equivalent of the Indian term guru, which designates a spiritual master. When combined, the two terms are often freely translated as “Ocean of Wisdom.”

There is this sage who fears war and admires peace. Who has renounced all weapons. And wise, he is. For He Is…as he wished to be.

There is this sage, born of war, who admires peace. He has seasoned all his weapons, understood and mastered them, and put them away. He has turned his weapons into instruments of peace. And he is a sage, for he is… as he wished to be.

Denying the weapon that is within you is like rejecting a faithful dog; it will always return. Learn to love it, to understand it, to accept its dangers and remedy them. And the words of the Dalai Lama will remain true.

You will have disarmed yourself. But not stripped.
